Would you like to  help children in other countries, but wonder if you could make a difference? Do you find the statistics and descriptions of the needs so overwhelming you do not know where to start?

“Drops of Love” is a group of people, young and old, from all walks of life making a difference. We create greeting cards to raise money and support the relief efforts of charities helping families in Liberia, Thailand and Ethiopia. 250,000 children in Ethiopia die every year for lack of clean drinking water. Thousands of children are left abandoned in refugee camps in the war-torn country of Liberia. We have chosen carefully two charities that bring the holistic love of Jesus to these children, with clean water, education and hope. Read more about Africa water and life and Provision of Hope.

100% of ALL donations for “Drops of Love” greeting cards go to these charities. Materials are donated by caring businesses and people. You can donate directly to the charities. Together, we CAN make a difference.

Every drop of love makes a difference.

My earliest memories as a child consist of going with my mom while she did volunteer work. I loved it! There is something in each of us that feels fulfilled and blessed when we get to give to others.

As an adult I feel so blessed that I have been able to volunteer. One of the things I noticed was that is was difficult for single moms, or busy women of all kinds, to find ways to give as their lives are so full. Thus the idea of “Drops of Love” was born. Everyone should have the opportunity to give.

We contacted a few printers and some friends to see if they would donate materials so some of these moms could make greeting cards to sell for donations for those less fortunate. Moms who are trying to “hold it all together” for their own families and living from paycheck to paycheck now have a way to give. One mom brings her 5-year-old son along and she gets to explain to him that we are raising money for children his age that do not have things like homes to live in, water to drink and even shoes to wear.

One of the charities we support in Liberia, provides support and school uniforms to children in the refugee camps so they can get an education. Now that may not sound as appealing to our little 5-year-old, but to the children in this country it is hope for the future. All of the charities we support drill fresh water wells for villages, so it was appropriate to name our group, “Drops of Love.”

Thank you for supporting and spreading the word–

Create Drops of Love – Every drop counts.

The power of giving and sharing God’s love is seen throughout history. When people take action to care for others there is a power released that is beyond words.

Abbe Pierre believed this strongly and set up ways for the under-privileged to give and care for others. He lived in the early 1900′s and fought against the injustice done to the poor.

In his book, “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made”, Philip Yancey writes: “Pierre could not tolerate the endless debates by noblemen and politicians while so many street people starved outside. During an unusually harsh winter, many of the Parisian beggars froze to death. In desperation, Pierre resigned his post and became a Catholic friar to work amount them. Failing to interest politicians or the community in the beggars’ plight, he concluded his only recourse was to organize the beggars themselves. He taught them to do menial tasks better. Next, he led them to build a warehouse from discarded bricks and start a business in which they sorted and processed vast quantities of used bottles from hotels and businesses. Finally, Pierre inspired each beggar by giving him responsibility to help another beggar poorer than himself.

The project caught fire and expanded into other countries. After years of this work there were no beggars left in Paris.” I must find somebody for my beggars to help” he declared. “If I don’t find people worse off than my beggars, this movement could turn inward. They’d become a powerful, rich organization and the whole spiritual impact will be lost. They have no one to serve.

Abbe’ Pierre had mastered the principle of servant leadership, an essential part of the spiritual role of parent. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many, “ Jesus said about himself, I know no message more urgent for the wealthy countries of the West, who share a planet with three billion people earning less than two dollars per day, a world in which 40,000 children die each day from malnutrition and preventable diseases.

As Abbe’ Pierre himself has said, the solution to such problems will not come from massive programs administered by international agencies helpful as they may be; it will come from many individuals who commit themselves in a willing spirit of servant love.”
